Career Engagement Event

Thursday, 28 April, 2016

Health Education England (working across the North West) has supported the setup of five Career Engagement Hubs, with a Hub being available within each sub region of the North West. The purpose of these hubs are

  • To forge and accelerate effective partnerships to engage with schools, other education providers and community network groups in promoting the full range of healthcare careers and employment opportunities, seeking to attract a wide range of talent and embedding this type of activity as core to organisation community commitment.
  • Share best practice in relation to Career engagement  between the organisations within the health economy and build upon any current activity which is already demonstrating impact but is looking to extend its reach and value.
  • Increase and efficiently manage work experience opportunities within the health economy, leading to an increase in work experience provision from their current baseline.

HEE (NW) held the first next network meeting for the Careers Engagement Event on the 21st April. The purpose of this event was to bring together representatives from the five Career Engagement Hubs across the North West, along with stakeholders from HEE, Skills for Health Academy, STEMNET and others involved in promoting healthcare careers. This was with the intention of sharing the initial development plans for the Hubs, making links and to also connect the Hubs to a set of initiatives which can be accessed and incorporated as part of their development plans.
