North West Stakeholder Forum

The North West Stakeholder Forum focussed on the implications for healthcare education following the recent announcements on the Comprehensive Spending Review (CSR). As part of the settlement, HEE will no longer be responsible for commissioning non-medical education after this year’s commissioning round.

NHS International Conference - Recruiting for the Values of the NHS

This international conference, chaired by Michelle Beecroft from Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, was designed to inform delegates of some of the challenges healthcare providers face around embedding key values, exploring the approaches used in America, New Zealand and Australia over the last 20 years to overcome such challenges. Furthermore consideration was given to the tools currently in use or in development within the UK.

Student Mentor Practice Guide for the Assistant Practitioner Foundation Degree Programme

Following a survey of Trainee Assistant Practitioners and their mentors across the North West, the Work-Based Education Facilitator (WBEF) Network has launched a guide to support learner development in the practice setting.
The Student and Mentor Practice Guide has been developed and shared with Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The guide reflects the requirements and processes in place across the various universities and is relevant to TAPs within health, social care, independent, and voluntary organisations.

Commissioner Led Peer Review

The government launched the Health Visitor Implementation Plan (HVIP) to strengthen the role of health visitors between 2011 and 2015. The Department of Health awarded funding to develop and implement a Commissioner Led Peer Review (CLPR) of this HVIP which aimed to develop a North of England (NoE) wide pool of knowledge, with the completion of a gap analysis, to assure delivery of health visiting services.
