Human Book Club for Healthcare Learners

A Human Book Club event was held to help student nurses and Trainee Nursing Associates
gather evidence for the communication section of their portfolios. The Human Book Club
provided an opportunity for healthcare learners to get a better understanding of how an
individual’s culture, social identity and expressed beliefs impact on the choices they make
about their care and treatment.

Student Engagement Forum

At Bolton NHS Foundation Trust the students’ voice matters and as such it is high on the pre-registration team’s agenda.  The Trust has created a platform – Student Engagement Forum - for students to voice their views regarding issues that affect them.  The inaugural events were held in May and July 2016, the months when we had the highest numbers of students on placement at the Trust.

Clock on 2 Health Programme

NHS Bolton have created a healthy workplace programme entitled Clock on 2 Health, designed and run for businesses and organisations in the Bolton area. It is a tailored package of health promotion and ill-health prevention services offered free to local businesses in order to improve the health and wellbeing of the local community.

A Workforce Strategy to Improve Staff Engagement

Bolton NHS Foundation Trust has undertaken a staff engagement strategy, supported by the development of the Bolton Improving Care System (BICS) and lean processes, as well as by a comprehensive leadership development programme.Throughout its journey the Trust has had to demonstrate its ability to respond flexibly and positively in an ever-changing NHS landscape where major NHS reform are creating new economic environments, workforce and service uncertainties.
