Piloting the Core Skills in General Practice

The North West Core Skills programme (NWCSP) is an award winning learning and development initiative being undertaken across the North West health sector to improve the efficiency and education quality of statutory and mandatory training. Following successful implementation of the programme by NHS trusts and higher education institutes (HEIs) across the North West, a new project is now focusing upon introducing Core Skills to general practices, with the aim of replicating benefits across primary care as well as within secondary care.

Skills for Care and Skills for Health - Carers Matter

Skills for Care has worked in partnership with Skills for Health to develop a range of resources that will support employers, organisations and staff to better support carers. These resources are based upon a set of Common Core Principles for working with carers, which describe the behaviours that carers would like to see when professionals are working with them, and provide a foundation for good practice and a benchmark for training. They also provide a unifying set of standards, which all those who deliver training can use.

NHS Challenge - A Year of Games

After a very successful 2011 at 5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, the Trust has embarked on ‘a year of games’ in the run up to the 2012 Olympic Games. The focus this year is to coordinate or interact with an event which can involve as many members of staff from the Trust as possible, this overview shows what is being planned in the coming months and what is involved.

Healthcare at HMP Styal

This document introduces HMP Styal which is a closed security prison for female adults and young offenders. It gives an overview of the type of healthcare that is delivered within this setting, as well as the workforce required to support this service.Healthcare for prisoners is a very important aspect of HMP Styal’s services. The healthcare services are a key partner within HMP Styal and by working in a transparent and cohesive approach with other organisations provide a significant contribution to a number of agendas.

Enabling Workforce Transformation in General Practice

Enabling Workforce Transformation in General Practice’ was hosted by Health Education North West at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, Warrington on 29 January 2015. A total of three sub-regional events were held, with additional events in Preston and Manchester. Each event was attended by approximately 70 healthcare professionals, including practice managers and general practitioners.Transformation of the workforce is an essential component of Health Education England’s vision. In the North West this means “Developing a workforce responsive to changes in care, now and in the future”.
